The first step to heal your ego is understanding this:

It’s all just part of the Story, my Butterfly.

All this drama that’s going on.

It’s all just bouncing energy that starts from your ego, manifesting in reality so that you can learn lessons from dealing with it.

Seeing ego for what it is, is a crucial first step to healing – deeply and truly.

And a hot tip for how to see if something is ego, versus if it’s something that the Universe has created is this:

Does it, in any way, bring about feelings of heaviness?

Heaviness can include feelings of shame, anger, resentment, embarrassment, sadness, discomfort (just to name a few)…

If a person or situation produces these types of feeling of heaviness within you – be aware that your ego is being triggered.

And this is nothing new.

We all have an ego.

It’s your protective shield that starts to be built the day you were born.

It’s the story of who you are, where you are from, what family you were born into, etc etc etc.

It’s that layer of life and memories that builds you into the form that is recognised by other egos.

Any time that you are identified by anything that is external to you, it is a sign that someone is engaging with the most recognisable and relatable part of you: your ego.

“This is Owen’s mum, Eva. She is an energy healer. She lives in Canberra.”

All this information is about me, but the information doesn’t make up all of me.

See the difference?

Egos are addicted to one another.

Egos feed off each other and create wild and crazy stories together.

Egos keep score.

And all humans have one.

It’s as natural as a shadow.

And thank goodness!

As a human, you build up this ego form throughout your life, and at some point you become aware that this world of “stuff” is separate from the essence of who you really are.

And at this point, you have a choice.

You can either explore that idea of having a spirit that is separate from your human experience, or you can deny it.

Most humans say “Oh yes! I would definitely explore this spiritual part of me”

But your ego won’t let you go without a fight.

Your ego has an image to protect, and it will do everything in its power to ensure that you feed it and keep it alive.

Your social anxiety resides 100% within your ego.

Your ego has built up this story that your energetic boundaries are poor, and therefore you soak up the energy of other peoples’ egos.

Therefore, you become exhausted when you are in the presence of others.

Tired, foggy, heavy, confused.

So, of course – if being with other people causes you this type of pain you will avoid it wherever you can.

Your life becomes ruled by social anxiety.

Ruled by this need to avoid human contact, so as to avoid pain and becoming depleted.

But once you recognise this – and recognise your ego’s role in feeding this story: this is the moment you start to become free.

Exercise:

The very, very first step to getting free of your ego’s grip is to be able to identify it.

Today, as you go about your daily life, notice whenever you feel triggered by something that makes you feel ‘heavy’.

In that moment, just whisper to yourself: “Ego, I see you.”

You might even feel heavy from the moment you awaken until the moment you go to bed.

Just keep affirming “Ego, I see you.”

And the process of separating You from your Ego will begin.

Love + light
